Chess intersects with the practice of Law in many interesting and unusual ways. As a turned-based strategy game, Chess is divided in three parts: the opening knowledge; tactics, positional analysis and strategy; and endgame technique.
 
Fun facts: One of the unique features of the Pawn is that, if it reaches the end of a file; it must then be promoted to a Queen (Rook, Bishop, or Knight, but that’s not the point here). The success of such a move beautifully illustrates how the expendable, powerless, nameless foot soldier may become a Queen, if their actions are brave and their heart is true…

Speaking of royalty, did you know that the Queen grew in size after 1475, when its powers expanded, and changed from a male counselor to the King’s female consort? Because it combines the powers of the Rook and Bishop it is thus the most mobile and powerful piece.
